Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) is a national non-profit and non-governmental organization established and registered in May 2002, under the Societies Act of 1860 (Registration No. 192/5/2946). We work with some of the most underprivileged communities in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan; responding to emergencies, improving access to quality health and education, creating livelihood opportunities and working closely with communities and government departments to promote human rights, peace and security.(Read more about CAMP)

One day Round Table Discussion on ‘Reforming the Tribal Jirga-system’with FATA women and youth

The series of five roundtables on ‘Reforming the Tribal Jirga System’ under the Rule of Law Programming in Pakistan Project (Jirga Component)culminated on October 27th, 2011 with a roundtable organized with Youth and Women from Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) at Laraib Inn Hotel,Islamabad. The objective of this round table session was to discuss the role of youth and womenin reforming the Tribal Jirga-system in FATA.The discussion was attended by 30 individuals from FATA. Ms Feryal Ali Gauhar, eminent human rights expert, also graced the occasion and shared her valuable thoughts on women rights and tribal system of conflict resolution.

One day Round Table Discussions on Reforming the Tribal Jirga-system in FATA held at Islamabad

As part of its Advocacy and Awareness Campaign for the project ‘Rule of Law Programming in Pakistan-II’ (Jirga Component), Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) arranged two roundtable discussions on ‘Reforming the tribal Jirga-system in FATA’ at Laraib-Inn, Islamabad on 27th and 29th of September respectively. The objective of the round table discussions was to develop a consensus among the stakeholders about reforming the Tribal Jirga-system in FATA.

Rule of Law Programme in Pakistan (Phase II)

With financial support from the German Foreign Office, and technical assistance from the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, Germany, Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP), initiated a seven month research project titled ‘Rule of Law Programming in Pakistan’. In addition two detailed research assessments were also conducted under this project.

One Day Awareness Session on Reforming the Tribal Jirga System in Pakistan

A  one day awareness raising session on ‘Reforming the Tribal Jirga System’ with National and International Civil Society Organizations was organized by Community Appraisal & Motivation Programme (CAMP) under its project Rule of Law Programme in Pakistan (Jirga Component).

Ms. Faryal Ali Gauhar, celebrated author, acclaimed film maker and committed human rights activist, Prof. Ahmed Ali Khan, Dean Law Department, Bahria University, and Malik Abdul Razzaq tribal Jirgamar were the guest speakers during this session.

Stakeholders Consultations on 'Assessing the Tribal Jirga System in Pakistan’s Tribal Areas'

Four Stakeholder consultations were held respectively on 21st, 23rd, 25th and 26th February , 2011 at Laraib Inn Islamabad. Jirga Stakeholders from all the four FATA regions and FRs were invited to share with them prelimnary research findings of Jirga Perception survey and to ascertain their opinions on various aspects of Jirga.

Training of Survey team for Jirga perception conducted by CAMP

Training of Survey team for Jirga perception survey was held on 23rd and 24th December 2010. Mr. Riaz, Manager Research CAMP, was the chief trainer and Masood Ahmad, Research Officer , Rule of Law Programme in Pakistan, assisted him. The procedure adopted was the same as that of refugee law the only difference being that the training period was squeezed down to 2 days due to shortage of time.
