Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) is a national non-profit and non-governmental organization established and registered in May 2002, under the Societies Act of 1860 (Registration No. 192/5/2946). We work with some of the most underprivileged communities in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan; responding to emergencies, improving access to quality health and education, creating livelihood opportunities and working closely with communities and government departments to promote human rights, peace and security.(Read more about CAMP)

Lack of coordinated efforts between government and civil society organizations leads to the growing menace of women trafficking in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Lack of coordinated efforts among government departments and civil society organizations and dearth of relevant laws & policies were termed as leading factors towards the growing menace of women trafficking in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the participants attending a half day consultative meeting organized by Community Appraisal & Motivation Programme(CAMP) regarding the inter institutional referral system (IRS). The meeting was attended by members from NGOs, media, law enforcement agencies, directorate of human rights, federal & provincial women crises centers and lawyers community. The event was sponsored by UNDP and DFID under its gender justice and protection program (GJP).

Communities for Change Project

In order to develop a sustained network of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and local leadership, CAMP initiated the Communities for Change Project in May 2009. The 21 month project is funded by Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Islamabad.

Capacity Building of Relevant Stakeholders to Counter Human Trafficking

CAMP received support from UNDP's Gender Justice and Protection Fund for a two year project to combat women and girls trafficking in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, which compliments CAMP's earlier project funded by the EU (2007-08).

Disability Resource Centre

CAMP established the Disability Resource Center (DRC) in Mansehra, KPK in 2007. The DRC is the first of its kind information sharing/advocacy/service coordination centre in the province. The Project supports an outreach programme to identify disabled children and adults, provide community based rehabilitation services and refer them on to NGO-run prosthetic/orthotic and other rehabilitation units established in the area post earthquake.

Public Opinion Poll - Understanding FATA

CAMP has been conducting opinion polls in FATA since 2007, gathering data about the attitudes of people towards governance, religion and society, human rights and the international community. With the financial assistance of the British High Commission, CAMP has conducted one of the biggest surveys of its kind in the region for understanding an area that appears to be an unsolved mystery to the rest of the world. The results of these surveys have been made available in English, Urdu, Pashtu and Dari languages.

Advocacy through consultation for reforms in Frontier Crimes Regulations in FATA

Through several research oriented and wide-ranging advocacy campaigns, CAMP is working to bring about reforms in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. The projects aim at understanding the perceptions of the local population about the Frontier Crimes Regulation as well as to document the recommendations of the intelligentsia of the area about the necessary changes. Projects such as Understanding FATA and Communities for Change are working in this regard.

Strengthening capacities for counter-trafficking in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Province

Supported by the UNDP, the project is building capacity of stakeholders on the issue of women trafficking and promoting inter-institutional cooperation in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa.
