Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) is a national non-profit and non-governmental organization established and registered in May 2002, under the Societies Act of 1860 (Registration No. 192/5/2946). We work with some of the most underprivileged communities in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan; responding to emergencies, improving access to quality health and education, creating livelihood opportunities and working closely with communities and government departments to promote human rights, peace and security.(Read more about CAMP)
Lack of coordinated efforts among government departments and civil society organizations and dearth of relevant laws & policies were termed as leading factors towards the growing menace of women trafficking in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by the participants attending a half day consultative meeting organized by Community Appraisal & Motivation Programme(CAMP) regarding the inter institutional referral system (IRS). The meeting was attended by members from NGOs, media, law enforcement agencies, directorate of human rights, federal & provincial women crises centers and lawyers community. The event was sponsored by UNDP and DFID under its gender justice and protection program (GJP).
Promoting human rights and liberties is one of CAMP’s core programming areas, and a major cross-cutting theme in all our work. Our human rights work involves empowering communities to claim their fundamental rights, guiding them to advocate for these rights, and creating dialogue between communities and key stakeholders for realization of these rights. Through our programmes we speak out for some of the most vulnerable groups including people with disabilities, and raise our voice on the issue of human trafficking (especially women and children), governance reforms in FATA, and the right to basic services for all
In order to develop a sustained network of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and local leadership, CAMP initiated the Communities for Change Project in May 2009. The 21 month project is funded by Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Islamabad.
CAMP received support from UNDP's Gender Justice and Protection Fund for a two year project to combat women and girls trafficking in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, which compliments CAMP's earlier project funded by the EU (2007-08).
CAMP established the Disability Resource Center (DRC) in Mansehra, KPK in 2007. The DRC is the first of its kind information sharing/advocacy/service coordination centre in the province. The Project supports an outreach programme to identify disabled children and adults, provide community based rehabilitation services and refer them on to NGO-run prosthetic/orthotic and other rehabilitation units established in the area post earthquake.
Supported by the UNDP, the project is building capacity of stakeholders on the issue of women trafficking and promoting inter-institutional cooperation in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa.
