Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) is a national non-profit and non-governmental organization established and registered in May 2002, under the Societies Act of 1860 (Registration No. 192/5/2946). We work with some of the most underprivileged communities in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan; responding to emergencies, improving access to quality health and education, creating livelihood opportunities and working closely with communities and government departments to promote human rights, peace and security.(Read more about CAMP)

Mr. Naveed Ahmad Shinwari - Chief Executive


With a Bachelors Degree in Electronic Engineering (B.E) from N.E.D. University of Engineering & Technology, Naveed Shinwari also holds an MBA Degree in Project Management and an International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance (IDHA) from Fordham University, New York.

Naveed is founding Chief Executive/President of CAMP and has over thirteen years experience in the development sector. As Chief Executive, he is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall management for multifaceted social and economic sector development projects in FATA and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. Naveed has rich experience of conducting research, and is also author of the renowned 'Understanding FATA' (four volumes). He remains involved in various research studies and international advocacy networks, and has represented Pakistan at several international conferences on peace and security.


Mr. Tahir Ali - Programme Manager, Development

Tahir Ali has a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Engineering and over twelve years experience in the development sector. As Programme Manager Development, Tahir is overseeing CAMP's Regional and Field Offices in FATA and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. Responsible for the overall implementation of development programmes and support sections, Tahir is also involved in developing new programme ideas, maintaining contact with donors, partner organizations and other stakeholders.

Managing diverse developmental projects, particularly community infrastructure projects are an area of strength for Tahir Ali. Before joining CAMP, Tahir worked with national development NGOs.


Mr. Riaz-ul-Haq - Project Manager, Research

Riaz-ul-Haq has an M. Phil and Masters Degree in Social Work, and also has to his credit several research studies at academic and professional levels. With over ten years of experience, Riaz is currently leading the Monitoring and Evaluation section. Riaz is responsible for annual project reviews, participatory impact assessments, process monitoring, operations monitoring and research studies.

Riaz has vast experience in participatory development and formation of Community Based Organizations, as well as Human and Institutional Development. Riaz previously worked at the Sarhad Rural Support Program.


Ms. Mariam Khan - Programme Manager, Advocacy

Mariam Khan has a Masters Degree in Mass Communication and is a Gold Medalist. She also has a Diploma in Women's Human Rights Law. At CAMP, Mariam is overseeing the Advocacy section; contributing to fund-raising initiatives, proposal development and donor relations. She is also providing support to CAMP's communication activities including newsletters, publications and the website.

With over eight year's experience, Mariam has worked with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) managing refugee and relief programmes, the World Conservation Union (IUCN), and local and international communication organizations.


Ms Wajiha Khan- Manager Monitoring and Evaluation

Wajiha Khan holds an M.Phil degree from the University of Agriculture Peshawar. She has nine years of experince in national and international organizations in development sectors. She has worked with SRSP, IRC and CRS on managerial positions and has extensive experience in managing education and livelihood projects, capacity building trainings for government officials and community, development of modules and newsletters, and monitoring and evaluation.

She was selected as foundation awardee by Australian development scholarship as a potential candidate from all over pakistan due to her work profile and experinece in the development sector. She was also awarded best employee of the year 2009 by IRC in one of the FATA development projects. She has also attained various national and international training during her professional tenure.


Ms Fareeha Sultan - Project Manager (Rule of Law Programme)

Ms. Fareeha Sultan is currently Project Manager for the Rule of law
Programme in Pakistan at CAMP. Fareeha has over 10 years experience as
advocacy and communication expert. She also has experience in project
development, management and coordination.

She has a Masters degree in
Mass Communication and an M Phil in South Asian Studies.


Mohammed Behzad Khan Principal Researcher (Rule of Law Programme)

Mohammed Behzad Khan is the Principal Researcher for the Rule of Law Progamme (Refugee Law component) at CAMP. He holds a Masters degree in History and South Asian Studies from the University of Toronto. He also has a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, with a strong focus on international human rights and refugee law

Mr. Khan has several years of experience in adult education/ training, capacity building and project development /management with civil society groups in the areas of public health, youth empowerment and immigrant/ refugee rights.


Irum Ali - Deputy Researcher and Trainer (Rule of Law
Programme)

Irum Ali is a Barrister at Law from Lincoln'sInn,London, and has been working for the past 4 years in various fields
related to law in Pakistan. She has practised family law and civil law in District Courts,Islamabad and Rawalpindi and has been attached with Atitizaz Ahsan's law chamber where she handled arbitration cases in the services tribunal and represented companies in the Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

She is also a member of the visiting law faculty at the University College of Islamabad (UCI) and teaches the subject of Land Law in the University of London LLB External Programme there.

She has an LLB Honors as well as a BSC Information Systems and Management from the University of London External Programme. At CAMP, she is currently assigned on the Refugee Law team as Deputy Researcher and Trainer in the department of the Rule of Law Programming in Pakistan in developing a manual on the status ofregistered Afghans residing throughout the country.


Mobeen Chughtai – Media Coordinator

Mobeen has an academic background in Political Sciences, Philosophy and Economics and completed his BSc. (Honors) Social Sciences from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Afterwards, he joined the Pakistani Media and worked in, both, Print and Electronic Journalism outlets.

These include The Daily Post, Dawn News and Express 24/7.

Mobeen has worked as Head of Commerce, Punjab, for Dawn News from 2008 to 2010. He later joined Express 24/7, for a year, as lead correspondent from Lahore.


Mr. Qaiser Ayub - Finance Manager

Qaiser Ayub has a Masters Degree in Economics as well as a professional certification for ACMA and APA. At CAMP, Qaiser is responsible for the overall management of the Finance section, capacity building of finance staff and all related activities.

With a rich background in finance and accounting, Qaiser has worked with CIDA where he maintained annual and quarterly organizational budgets. In preceding years, he worked in finance and accounting departments of prestigious organizations in different capacities.


Marjana - Project Manager, Understanding FATA

Marjana has an educational background in Economics, and has worked as an economist and a management consultant in Singapore. In addition to her experience in private sector, Marjana has worked with various development organizations such as the International Rescue Committee and UNHCR.


Mr. Asad Ali - Project Coordinator, Advocacy

Asad Ali has a Masters degree in English Literature from Peshawar University, with a distinction for which he was also awarded scholarship. At CAMP, Asad is overseeing the Communities for Change Project; coordinating capacity building efforts for a network of over one hundred CBOs in the FATA and advocating for political reform in the region.

Before joining CAMP, Asad worked with the Aurat Foundation, advocating for legislation to protect women from violence. He has vast experience in the area of human rights, child protection and rights of displaced populations. Asad has worked as research consultant with Save the Children UK, UNICEF, and the Government of Pakistan.


Ms. Ayesha Zia-ul-Qamar - Project Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation

With an MBA in Human Resource Management, Ayesha Zia has wide experience in the education and Development sectors. She has been involved in projects targeting Health, Education, gender based violence, women's development and child protection. At CAMP, Ayesha is supporting the Monitoring and Evaluation section and is responsible for carrying out monitoring of ongoing projects, research studies and internal evaluations. 

Besides teaching at prestigious institutions for over ten years, Ayesha has worked with PAIMAN and DELTA and been involved with various projects funded by UN agencies.


Dr. Hamida Iqbal – Project Manager, Health

Dr. Hamida has a Doctor of Medicine degree and a diploma in Clinical Pathology from Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. As Project Manager,  Health, Dr. Hamida is coordinating  health activities at CAMP, including the emergency and regular health projects and the Midwifery/Lhv training programme for FATA.

Dr. Hamida has over twenty-three years of experience working with emergency medical programmes in national and international organizations including the Saudi Red Crescent Society for Afghan Refugees and Community Infrastructure Project.


Mr. Said Afzal Shinwari – Project Coordinator, Combating Women Trafficking

Said Afzal has a Masters Degree in Social Sciences and a Bachelors degree in Education.



As Project Coordinator for ‘Combating Women Trafficking in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa', Said Afzal is responsible for capacity building of key stakeholders on women trafficking issues, networking and advocacy at the provincial level, and compilation of quarterly project newsletters. In addition, Said Afzal is also supporting the Disability Resource Centre (DRC) Project in Mansehra.

Previously Said Afzal has worked with Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) as Assistant Program Manager Child Labour.


Aezaz ur Rehman - Campaign Manager

Aezaz did masters in Anthropology from Qauid e Azam
University Islamabad. He also hold a degree of LL.B from University of Peshawar.

He has served in different Public and Private sector institutions related to Community development, Broadcasting and Capacity building at administrative and technical positions over the last ten years.

Aezaz has also worked at Radio Pakistan as Programme Producer, also served as Lecturer at COMSATS University in Development Studies Department and in many national level NGO’s.
