Countering Human Trafficking Campaign
Since January 2007 CAMP launched its Countering Human Trafficking project entitled
"Capacity Building of Relevant Stakeholders on Counter Trafficking"
in 24 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the financial support of the European Union under
its European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR). To counter human
trafficking at provincial level the project aims to enhance the capacity of
Magistrates, Public Prosecutors and Lawyers, Police officials, Media personnel,
and NGOs working on human rights. So far CAMP has successfully organized 3 sessions
each for lawyers, NGOs and media.
At the end of the project a Referral System will be established, which would
help the victims to get free legal, shelter, health and other rehabilitation
support.
Advocacy for the Rights of People with Disabilities (PWDs)
CAMP is running advocacy campaigns for the rights of people with disabilities
(PWDs) at provincial and national levels, with the financial support of Leonard
Cheshire Disability. Various advocacy and capacity building activities are being
undertaken to take up the issue of disability, enhance the capacity of local
government, NGOs, government Line Departments, and PWDs and their carers on
UN Convention on the Rights of PWDs. Various press conferences, seminars and
conferences are being planned to be implemented at provincial and national level.
Advocacy through consultation for reforms in Frontier Crimes Regulations in
FATA
CAMP has been running a research oriented advocacy campaign for bringing reforms
in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. The campaign involves
the local stakeholders, especially local communities, documents the local perception
on FCR and its ill effects and involve the well informed people of FATA to sit
together and ink down recommendations for better governance in FATA. The message
is being highlighted through the powerful civil society and media the government
is pursued to take steps keeping in view the local demands.
