About CAMP
Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) is a national non-profit and non-governmental organization established and registered in May 2002, under the Societies Act of 1860 (Registration No. 192/5/2946). We work with some of the most underprivileged communities in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Province of Pakistan; responding to emergencies, improving access to quality health and education, creating livelihood opportunities and working closely with communities and government departments to promote human rights, peace and security.

Professor John Beavis, Orthopedic and Trauma Surgeon, Chairman of IDEALS UK

Professor John Beavis served in Royal Navy as Surgical Specialist and was Medical Officer to Reserve Royal Marine Commando Unit and holder of Military Parachute Wings. In 1976 he was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon to Lewisham University Hospital, Children's Hospital Sydenham and Director of Lewisham Hospital Accident and Emergency Department. In 1980 he was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon to Medway Hospital, Kent and was Director of Department of Orthopaedics Trauma and Plastic Surgery.

Professor Beavis was awarded Bosnian Medal of Honour for work in Sarajevo Hospital during and after the war. He continued Bosnian activities as visiting Consultant to State Hospital, Sarajevo where he was involved in reconstruction of services in a variety of orthopaedic and trauma sub specialties.Work extended with Primary Trauma Care training to Khyber Pukhtunkhwa in 2003 and subsequently to Sindh. He also worked extensively both clinically and assisting in reconstructive work in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa following October 1995 earthquake, and remains a Senior Advisor to CAMP.

In 2000, he was appointed Consultant Advisor in Traumatic and Orthopaedic Surgery & Senior Lecturer and Deputy Director of Leonard Cheshire Centre for Conflict Recovery, Department of Academic Surgery, University College. Appointed Hunterian Professor Royal College of Surgeons of England 2003. Awarded Diploma in the Medical Care of Catastrophes (DMCC) 2002. Advanced Trauma Life Support Certificate with distinction and invited to train to become a national instructor.

Dr Andrew Ferguson, MRCGP MFPHM MPH DTMH

Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK), Member of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine (UK), Masters in Public Health (Nottingham, UK), Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (Liverpool, UK).
Dr. Andrew Ferguson's professional background lies in family medicine, public health and tropical medicine, and he has utilised these skills in a variety of environments worldwide.

Having worked in the field in the Middle East and Balkans, he spent the subsequent five years combining a role as medical coordinator for a UK based NGO with ongoing clinical commitments as a general practitioner (family doctor) in the UK. Dr. Ferguson is now working as a freelance consultant, looking to support the delivery and development of health services in areas affected by conflict and natural disaster. He is also the Senior Technical Advisor Health for CAMP.

Dr. Ferguson has extensive experience in the following areas: health needs assessment and the development of new health-related project proposals worldwide; liaison with government ministries, donors, UN agencies, international and local NGOs; the monitoring and evaluation of existing health-related projects (from technical, administrative and financial perspectives); the production of interim and final reports for donors; staff training, from both clinical and public health perspectives; the recruitment of clinical staff; and the health care of international and local staff in the field.
